The Savoie Family is proud to share with you this article from Le Courrier Laval, which appeared at the beginning of October, when Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Laval celebrated its residents’ birthday of the month.

Every first day of the month, Les Résidences Soleil Manoir Laval honor its residents by celebrating their birthdays and wedding anniversaries of the month, perpetuating a 17-year-old long-standing tradition.

Mariette Tremblay, president of the residents’ committee at the residence on Chomedey’s Boulevard de l’Avenir, proudly expresses the importance of this monthly event.

« It’s a special moment for all the residents,”says Mrs. Tremblay. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, and this tradition has been going on for 17 years now. It helps create a strong bond between residents and maintains a festive atmosphere within our community. »

Mariette Tremblay also pointed out that the team of nine members of the Organizing Committee makes every effort to ensure that each event is a memorable one.

«The tables are beautifully decorated, and each birthday party attendee can invite their loved ones. We invite a musician to play the accordion, and we organize a drawing to make even more people happy. It’s a day of joy shared by all. »

Significant celebrations

For Ginette Théorêt and her husband Richard Duchesne, who were celebrating their respective birthdays that day, the event had a particular significance.

«At a certain age, you find a new family in residence, and it’s with this new family that we’re celebrating our birthdays today. Even with my disability, I’m happy and grateful to be here. »

Richard Duchesne, on his part, expresses his gratitude for the warm welcome they have received since their arrival at the residence.

« I feel surrounded by kindness and attentiveness,” he points out. We’re living happily here for the next chapter of our lives.»

Recognizing seniors

Laval-des-Rapides councillor Alexandre Warnet, who attended the celebration, stressed the importance of this event for the Laval community.

«There’s something beautiful about celebrating our elders, those who helped build the city we know today. I’m honoured to be here and share these moments with them.»

Other testimonies

To conclude the festivities, Mariette Tremblay shared a personal anecdote, reminding us how important these moments are for each resident.

«I celebrated my 80th birthday here last September, surrounded by fifty friends, she says. It was one of the happiest days of my life. Living in a residence means staying young and active among caring people.»
